Every 3rd Sat. each Month - 100 Seeds Of Change Trainings & Workshops

In concert with local organizations, SJLI has already made healthy living education available for adults and children in our city. Local experts will teach residents interested in developing a healthy lifestyle. Classes include:

Nutrition & Physical Activities Workshop                                       Farm to Plate Culinary Class

Tree Planting & Care Workshop                                                     Urban Gardening Workshop

 

March 2013 - National Nutrition Month - "30 Day Healthy Eating Challenge"

The students of the Inglewood Unified School District will compete school vs school in raising funds for the “100 Seeds Of Change” school gardens. The challenge for the students and participating faculty is to pledge themselves to a healthier eating habits for 30 days. While abstaining from fast, junk, and other unhealthy foods, each participant will raise pledge funds on behalf of their school. The school and student with the highest funds raised wins. The winners will be announced at Earth Day 2012.

 

April 2013 - “Earth Day 2012 - The Breath of Life."

In partnership with the city of Inglewood, this 2nd annual event will be a day filled with health screenings, film screenings, classes (Nutrition Health & Physical activity, Tree Planting & Care training, active living, composting, gardening, ect) speakers on environment and health, food vendors, fun games and activities for the kids, and live performances. All activities will be focused on our theme The Breath of Life, a recognition of the role air plays in our health.

 

June 2013 - BMYA Scholarships and Awards Banquet

With all the hard work that our Black Male Youth Academy students have put in at school and in the community, our seniors will be recognized and will receive scholarships for college.

 

July 2013 - Independence Day Cookout!

Independence Day is a day of remembrance that is usually spent with family. We want to have everyone come together, enjoy a day out eating good food with great conversation and activities on a beautiful day of rest.
