Inglewood, CA December 5, 2012 - The Social Justice Learning Institute (SJLI), TreePeople and the Inglewood Unified School District (IUSD) present the “2012 Fruit Tree Distribution Program” to the residents of Inglewood and South LA on Saturday, January 28, 2011 from 10am-4:00pm at Morningside High School in Inglewood, CA. As a Part of SJLI’s “100 Seeds of Change” food system initiative, 1000 fruit trees will be distributed to 1000 pre-registered families. The Fruit Tree Distribution Program, sponsored by TreePeople - a non-profit organization committed to increasing clean air, food access and canopy - is designed to empower community residents to take hold of their access to healthy, fresh locally grown food.
Perlman Foundation Awards $50,000 Scholarship Fund for Black Males
February 2011-Los Angeles, CA - The Perlman Foundation has partner with the California based non-profit the Social Justice Learning Institute to provide a $50,000 African American Males scholarship fund, maintained by the California Community Foundation. The purpose of this scholarship is to address the extraordinarily high dropout rate among African American male high school students and the growing decline of African American males on college campuses.
